The Philadelphia Eagles are getting prepared to begin their title defense on Thursday night, as they will face the Dallas Cowboys to kick off the 2025 season.

This is a highly anticipated matchup, as the Eagles will be playing in front of their crowd for the first time since the NFC title game. Meanwhile, the Cowboys are looking to play spoilers, but will try to do so without Micah Parsons, who was surprisingly traded to the Green Bay Packers.

That said, before the action begins, the Eagles are still toying around with their roster, as they’re bringing back one of the multiple players they cut earlier this week.

Eagles Sign Kenyon Green to 53-Man Roster Ahead of Regular Season Opener

On Sunday, Jeff Kerr of CBSSports.com reported that the Eagles have signed offensive lineman Kenyon Green to the active roster. Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer adds that Green is taking the spot of Willie Lampkin, who was placed on injured reserve.

The Eagles waived Green this past Monday after acquiring him from the Houston Texans in the C.J. Gardner-Johnson trade. When Philadelphia acquired Green, he wasn’t expected to compete for a starting job, as the Eagles already had their left (Landon Dickerson) and right guards (Tyler Steen) locked in.

However, the former first-round pick could be one of the Eagles’ top backups, along with Matt Pryor, on the offensive line. Green didn’t have the best training camp or preseason as he was carted off the field with an injury against the Cincinnati Bengals. Then, not too long after the preseason opener, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the former Texans lineman would miss the rest of the exhibition slate with a shoulder injury.

Between his injuries and demotion to the third-team offensive line, it only made sense for the Eagles to cut ties with Green and see if they could get him back on the practice squad. Days later, Philadelphia signed the 24-year-old lineman to the taxi squad.

With Green on the 53-man roster, it will be interesting to see if he will be active on gamedays as the Eagles already have Matt Pryor, Fred Johnson, rookie Drew Kendall, and Brett Toth. If not, he'll need to show major improvements in practice to earn that trust of the coaching staff.
