The Philadelphia Eagles are rolling into Kansas City with a 1-0 record ahead of this Sunday's Super Bowl rematch against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. That doesn't mean the defending champions aren't working to solve some issues of their own, though.

To put it bluntly, things aren't great within the Eagles' secondary entering this weekend's slate of games. When you have former players who are currently unemployed using the team's shortcomings as a means of promoting themselves for a potential role on the defense, you know that the performance of the unit as a whole hasn't been up to par.

This puts veteran Eagles cornerback Adoree' Jackson on thin ice entering Week 2, as things will get no easier for him against the Chiefs, even if wideout Xavier Worthy isn't fully healthy.

Eagles' Adoree' Jackson Cannot Afford Another Bad Showing vs. Chiefs

While Jackson gave himself a grade of a "C" following his lackluster performance against the Cowboys in Week 1, the numbers themselves paint a much different picture. There is nothing average about allowing five receptions for 103 receiving yards on the seven balls that were thrown in his direction. To make matters worse, all five of those receptions allowed by Jackson led to first downs for Dallas.

The Cowboys picked on Jackson all night long, with CeeDee Lamb being the catalyst of the offensive game plan. This led to some rather poor evaluations from Pro Football Focus as Jackson earned an overall PFF grade of 32.4 in Week 1. His coverage grade, albeit slightly higher at 33.6, was nothing to write home about either.

Simply put, if Jackson has another clunker of a performance like this against Kansas City this Sunday, then fans could come calling for his job sooner rather than later. In all honesty, it would be warranted as well. The Eagles cannot seriously consider themselves a threat to repeat as champions if this is the quality of play fans will see from the secondary.

The former University of Southern California standout has one more chance this weekend to turn things around. If he fails to do so, there are no guarantees that another opportunity will come his way in Philadelphia.
