The Philadelphia Eagles could lose a few key coaches after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59. The Super Bowl champion Eagles saw offensive coordinator Kellen Moore leave and officially accept the head coaching job with the New Orleans Saints.

The former Eagles coordinator has already begun putting out feelers to see who he can add to his coaching staff. Eagles QBs coach Doug Nussmeier and passing game coordinator Kevin Patullo are two early names linked to the Saints’ offensive coordinator.

However, those aren’t the only two names that Moore has his eyes on from the Eagles coaching staff.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Eagles DBs coach Christian Parker is interviewing for the Saints defensive coordinator job, along with San Francisco 49ers head coach Brandon Staley.

Parker just wrapped up his first year as the Eagles DBs coach after spending the previous three seasons (2021-23) with the Denver Broncos as their DBs coach.

Parker did a great job in his first year with the Eagles secondary, getting rookie cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean up to speed and putting veteran cornerback Darius Slay in a position to succeed. Also, the Eagles’ safety play with C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Reed Blankenship rebounded nicely in 2024.

Philadelphia’s defense was one of the best against the pass this season, allowing 174.2 yards per game (fewest in the NFL) and 6.0 passing yards per attempt (first in the league). That’s a credit to work that Parker and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio were able to do this season, which helped the Eagles hoist the Lombardi Trophy in the Big Easy.

Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see if Parker makes it deep into the interviewing process with the Saints. With his most recent success with the Eagles and Broncos, he’s on the fast track to becoming a defensive coordinator soon.
