One of the major reasons the Philadelphia Eagles made it to and won the Super Bowl during the 2024 season was the success of their offensive line. While the majority of the offensive line stayed intact this offseason, the Eagles did lose right guard Mekhi Becton. Becton signed a two-year $20 million contract with the Los Angeles Chargers during free agency.
That said, Philadelphia did have a replacement plan in place with third-year guard Tyler Steen. Steen, a former third-round pick, was slated to be the starter last season but ended up suffering an injury during training camp, and the rest was history. This is why the Eagles wanted to have a backup plan in case Steen went down again.
As a result, they acquired Kenyon Green from the Houston Texans via trade this offseason. Unfortunately, Green isn't off to a great start with Philadelphia. According to Anthony DiBona, Green missed the first day of Eagles training camp on Wednesday and was practicing with the third team during OTAs.

Now he reportedly isn’t practicing today.
Not a great start in Philadelphia for someone that many thought could compete with Tyler Steen for the starting job at RG.
Eagles OT Kenyon Green Off to Poor Start in Philadelphia
After a disappointing two seasons with the Texans, the former first-round pick was likely hoping to get off to a better start with his new team. In two seasons, Green allowed nine sacks, 16 QB hits, 50 QB hurries, and 75 QB pressures, according to PFF. Furthermore, he has never finished a season with a grade of 40.0 or better on PFF.
Even so, Green clearly had enough talent coming out of college to be selected in the first round. Last year, Eagles offensive line coachJeff Stoutland was able to get the best out of Becton, who was also a former first-round pick. Prior to his year with the Eagles, Becton only had one season where it looked like he could live up to his first-round pick billing: his rookie season.
So, the vision in acquiring Green was clear: pair Green with Stoutland to see what potential the coach could get out of him. However, the early returns don't seem great. Although Green has time to turn that around, sitting out of practice doesn't help.
Therefore, the sooner Green returns, the better. Be that as it may, if he is unable to prove he belongs on the team, Eagles fans will look at this trade as one of Howie Roseman's worst roster moves.
