Eagles Stud Makes Big Move on Monday That Could Lead to Philly Exit
The Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs will battle for Super Bowl LIX on Sunday. This rematch of Super Bowl LVII has been on the mind of Philadelphia.
They are seeking to get some revenge and secure the second Super Bowl in team history. Multiple players will be playing their last game with the Eagles on Sunday.
Free agency is on their minds and the latest report shows that is what Josh Sweat is thinking about. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Sweat changed agents on Monday and hired Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha.
Rosenhaus stated, "He clearly is one of the very top free agents."
Eagles News: Josh Sweat Swapped Agents on Monday
In March 2024, Sweat and the Eagles agreed on a restructured contract. His revised deal included $10 million guaranteed with a maximum value of $13 million.
He's slated to hit free agency and is looking to cash in. Sweat has been with the Eagles for seven years after being a fourth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
This free-agent edge rush class includes Khalil Mack, Haason Reddick, Matthew Judon, and Chase Young.
This past season, the Florida State product racked up 54 total pressures, 37 QB hurries, nine TFLs, and eight sacks. Although he was productive, there may not be a pathway for him to return to Philly on a long-term deal.
Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt have both been solid contributors for the Birds. Philadelphia also handed out a three-year, $51 million deal to Bryce Huff, whose been a massive disappointment. This year, Huff had 20 total pressures, 17 QB hurries, and 2.5 sacks.
The Eagles would get hit with a $29.6 million dead cap hit in 2025 if the Eagles were to release him. That may be an option for them, and if they do, it remains to be seen if they want to hand out another lucrative deal to an edge.
Rosenhaus is one of the best agents in the league and will seek the top dollar for Sweat on the open market.
