Eagles Starter Picks Up New Injury Right Before TNF in Week 11
By Jovan Alford
The Philadelphia Eagles ripped off their fifth consecutive win last week, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 34-6. It was an impressive win by the Eagles, who look like a contender in the NFC after a slow start to the season.
However, the Eagles cannot rest on their laurels as they have a pivotal NFC East game against the Washington Commanders. With Philadelphia on a short week, they could be without various players due to injury.
One of those players is veteran tight end Dallas Goedert, who made his long-awaited return last week against the Cowboys. Goedert missed the Eagles’ previous three games because of a hamstring injury.
On Monday, Goedert was listed on the Eagles’ Week 11 injury report with an ankle injury, per Zach Berman of PHLY.
As you can imagine, Eagles fans weren’t thrilled to see Goedert back on the injury report after just coming back against Dallas. With the Eagles playing on Thursday night, Tuesday’s injury report will be pivotal in determining if Goedert will suit up.
If Goedert cannot play on Thursday night, we should expect Grant Calcaterra to take the TE1 role. The 25-year-old tight end played phenomenally between Weeks 7-9, where he had nine receptions (nine targets) for 93 yards.
Calcaterra also had a huge performance in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns, recording four receptions (four targets) for 67 yards. The Commanders' defense has done a good job against opposing tight ends (allowed 42 receiving yards per game) this season.
