The Eagles announced a surprise roster move on Monday evening, signing former Commanders fifth-round DE K.J. Henry to replace the legendary veteran Brandon Graham following Sunday's victory over the Rams.

Graham's torn biceps ends his season and potentially his career, creating a void for the locker room both from a performance and leadership standpoint.

Poaching a division rival's 2023 draft pick comes with its own benefits, though Henry could play a big role down the stretch for Philadelphia.

Eagles Sign Surprise Brandon Graham Replacement After Week 12

Graham's loss is a massive one for the Eagles. He's been an invaluable member of the defense and Henry can't replace him as a one-to-one option. That said, he's still an intriguing prospect.

Philadelphia is his fourth team in his young career. Thus far, Henry has just 22 tackles and 2.5 sacks in his career. He's suffered injuries that've led to a lack of faith by his respective coaching staffs, but was a multi-year contributor at Clemson.

As a four-year player, Henry compiled 123 tackles and 13.5 sacks. At six-foot-four and 255 pounds, he's got the prerequisite physical stature to make an impact along the defensive line. Based on the success the Eagles have found creating successful players along the edge, perhaps Henry can be the next example.

Regardless, this represents a low-cost, high-upside signing that could pay dividends down the line. Philadelphia remains one of the best teams in the NFC. They'll easily challenge the Lions for the best roster in the conference as we approach the playoffs.

Henry has plenty of talent. Now, it's on the Eagles to unlock it.
