The Philadelphia Eagles have been using the past couple of months to see who will be a valuable contributor on the team for the 2025 season. Spring workouts, training camp, and preseason games have allowed certain players to stand out compared to others.
On Wednesday, the Eagles released WR Giles Jackson and signed LB Chance Campbell in his place. That opened up a spot in the WR room, and it looks like there's one rookie who is getting praise from his teammates.
Tight end Dallas Goedert was asked which offensive player he thinks will have a big year, and he said Darius Cooper. Eagles reporter Brandon Lee Gowton also tweeted out that Cooper has been the Eagles' third-best WR behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith this summer.

Jahan Dotson hasn’t had a bad offseason by any means but honestly Darius Cooper has been the Eagles’ 3rd best WR. Only behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.

Eagles WR Darius Cooper Has Been Impressive This Offseason
The Eagles have Brown and Smith as their top two WRs, but they've been looking for a third player who could step up in that room. Dotson has been around for a year, but he has been a bit underwhelming since arriving.
Philadelphia also added John Metchie III via trade a couple of days ago, joining Terrace Marshall Jr., Elijah Cooks, Taylor Morin, Johnny Wilson, Ainias Smith, and Avery Williams in the WR room.
Regardless, the competition is wide open in that area, and Cooper has taken full advantage of the opportunities in front of him. In two preseason games, he has reeled in six receptions for 82 yards and one touchdown.
Prior to even entering the league, Cooper spent five seasons at Tarleton State from 2020-24. Over 48 games there, he recorded 3,185 scrimmage yards with 29 touchdowns. Over his last three seasons there, he averaged more than 88 yards per game, showcasing the kind of weapon he is with the ball in his hands.
Considering he was that dynamic in the college game, he was an intriguing option for the Eagles. With the way that Goedert and reporters are discussing Cooper, it seems like Philadelphia has no other choice but to get Cooper out on the field.
Injuries are a part of the game, and there could be a portion of the season when Cooper will be needed. And it sounds like the Eagles will be confident in his ability to step up.
