The Philadelphia Eagles are in the middle of what is a very exciting 2025 offseason. Coming off a Super Bowl win, the franchise has made it clear there is zero contentment with where the roster was heading into the offseason. Philly has worked hard to retain key pieces of the Super Bowl core, as well as bringing in potentially impactful veteran additions. It is hard to find anything to complain about for the defending champs. Making matters all the more exciting is the fact that a division rival appears to be headed for a potential divorce with its best playmaker.

If there is one threat in the NFC East to the Eagles, it is the Washington Commanders. Even Philly fans cannot deny how exciting quarterback Jayden Daniels was in the 2024 season. Still, Hurts is the more accomplished player who has beaten Daniels in both matchups in their careers so far. Still, it won't hurt the feelings of Eagles fans that Terry McLaurin and the Commanders aren't on good terms. The receiver is openly sharing that he won't step on the field if extension talks don't soon happen.

Eagles Rival Terry McLaurin on the Outs with Washington

If this continues to devolve and forces the team's best receiver to exit, the Eagles shouldn't have any fear of the rest of the division. McLaurin is such an underrated receiver who is finally starting to get his due respect thanks to the emergence of Daniels. Still, the Eagles can respect the receiver and still want him far away from the division.

While this could be said of every division rival, it actually seems a distant reality for Philly fans. While the Commanders would be crazy to part ways with the star, it is clear the receiver has no intention of playing, and contract talks aren't active at this moment. All setting up a clear chance of a departure for the star and clearing a further path for division dominance for the Eagles.

Keeping this in mind, it is a story NFC East fans will keep a close eye on, having a vested interest in how things play out. It is fun to imagine playing the Commanders twice next season with McLaurin safely on another roster. It's a long shot but seems increasingly possible with each passing day.
