Eagles Release 1st Super Bowl 59 Injury Report
By Jovan Alford
The Philadelphia Eagles are only days away from making their second Super Bowl appearance in the last three years. The Eagles will face off against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59 at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Philadelphia is looking to avenge its last Super Bowl loss to Kansas City, which happened in Super Bowl 57 in Glendale, AZ. The Eagles hope for better fortunes this time, but they know they have a tall task as they look to deny the Chiefs a chance at history.
On Wednesday, the Eagles released their first injury report for Super Bowl 59. Unlike the Chiefs, who only had three players listed on their injury report, the Eagles had 10 players listed.
However, six of the 10 players were listed as full participants, including starting offensive linemen Cam Jurgens and Landon Dickerson, who were banged up in the NFC title game.
Pro Bowl linebacker Zack Baun was also a full participant despite a groin injury, which is a good sign heading into the Super Bowl. Before the team departed for New Orleans, Baun was listed as DNP at last Friday’s practice in Philadelphia.
Second-year defensive lineman Jalen Carter was the most notable addition among the four limited players. Carter was not at the Eagles’ media session Wednesday due to an illness but practiced in a limited fashion, per Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia.
The Eagles hope to move Carter, Brandon Graham, DeVonta Smith, and Kenny Gainwell to the full participant section.
Gainwell suffered a concussion in the NFC title game but was seen at Super Bowl Opening Night, which is a good sign for his availability. Meanwhile, Graham is on track to return for the Super Bowl after suffering a torn triceps injury in Week 12 against the Los Angeles Rams.
For Philadelphia to pull off the “upset” on Sunday, they will need all hands on deck. The Eagles are currently 1.5-point underdogs against the Chiefs on FanDuel Sportsbook.
