The Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams have had quite a few memorable matchups over the last two seasons. For those keeping count, the Eagles are 3-0 in those games and have a four-game winning streak against the Rams and Sean McVay. This isn’t an easy feat.
That said, if the Eagles thought they were going to get away from McVay and the Rams, they are sadly mistaken. On Monday, the Rams announced that they signed both GM Les Snead and McVay to extensions.
While this is good news for Rams fans, McVay and Snead have accomplished a lot in their tenure together, including two Super Bowl trips and one Vince Lombardi Trophy. It also means the Eagles will likely have to go through the Rams to get back to the big game.
Eagles Destined to See McVay and Rams Again over the Next Few Years
In what should come as a surprise, the two teams are scheduled to play during the 2026 season. We don’t know when that game will take place. However, we know that the Eagles will be inviting McVay and Co. back to Lincoln Financial Field.
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni probably likes that idea, as Philly’s last two wins over the Rams have come at the Linc. This season, we watched the Eagles defeat the Rams 33-26 in Week 3 at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Rams jumped out to a 26-7 lead over the Eagles in the third quarter, but Philadelphia’s offense finally came to life, scoring 20 unanswered points, taking a 27-26 lead late in the fourth quarter. The Eagles sealed the deal after Jordan Davis blocked a field goal, which was returned for a touchdown.
Going back to the 2024 season, the Eagles won both games against the Rams, including a 28-22 win in the divisional round. That was a memorable playoff win for Philadelphia and its fans, as it snowed during most of the game.
The Eagles leaned on superstar running back Saquon Barkley, who racked up a career-high 255 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries against the Rams earlier in the season. Then, in the playoffs, Barkley ripped the Rams to shreds again, putting up 205 yards and 2 TDs on 26 carries.
Looking ahead to the 2026 campaign and whatever comes after, the Eagles will hope to enjoy continued success against McVay, one of the best coaches in the NFL. While McVay won’t always have Matthew Stafford at his side, that won’t stop the Rams' leader on the sidelines.
Eventually, he will get his win over the Eagles, as he’s too talented a coach. That said, when it does happen, Philadelphia hopes it comes in the regular season and not the playoffs.
