The Philadelphia Eagles aren't expected to trade any players of note leading into the regular season. If anything, the defending Super Bowl champs will be searching for any possible avenues to improve. Still, there is a chance that Philly might look to trade one of the four quarterbacks currently rostered. It goes without saying this doesn't include Jalen Hurts or Tanner McKee, who are locked into their respective roles.

Hurts continues to be disrespected and underrated despite joining Tom Brady and Joe Burrow as the only quarterbacks to beat the dynastic Kansas City Chiefs in a game that actually mattered.

With this in mind, the Philly quarterback room comes down to Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Kyle McCord for the final quarterback spot. Carrying three options has become the norm since the league changed the rules to allow the third starter to serve in an emergency role without counting for an actual roster spot on game day. All of this adds up to the Eagles needing to test the market and see if Thompson-Robinson could be dealt for a day-three pick. If an injury strikes or a team is desperate enough to upgrade its backup situation, it isn't completely off the table.

The Eagles Should Consider Trading Dorian Thompson-Robinson

McCord is the more interesting option and should be kept in an emergency role. Thompson-Robinson has starting experience and could be an attractive option for the right team. The Detroit Lions stand out as one franchise that could easily upgrade its backup situation by adding the veteran. Regardless of who, the Eagles should consider at least testing the market and seeing if there is any level of interest in the veteran quarterback.

We've already seen this work once with Kenny Pickett being dealt for Thompson-Robinson in the first place. It helped move salary and gave Philly another piece the team could now look to part ways with. Even with this loaded roster, the Eagles are in trouble if their third option is forced to take the field. It is good for both Philly and the veteran quarterback if any team is willing to take on the quarterback in an elevated role.

Still, the trade is a long shot with Carson Wentz and experienced backup options remaining in free agency. This, along with looming cuts at the end of the preseason, will make it difficult to move on from a quarterback who clearly doesn't play into the Eagles' future plans.
