The Philadelphia Eagles know who their starting quarterback will be when Week 1 rolls around and the Dallas Cowboys come to town for a nationally televised showdown.
Jalen Hurts is "the guy" in Philadelphia, and that will continue as long as he is healthy. The control he has in this scheme, coupled with the trust his teammates have in him executing the offense, allows the Eagles to accomplish things that other teams wish they were capable of doing.
The clearest evidence of this is the infamous tush push. The rest of the league became so infuriated about the high rate of success Hurts and company have enjoyed with that play that they attempted to have it banned.
How things shake up behind Hurts on the depth chart was a bit of a question entering training camp. However, it is becoming clear that one player not only has a leg up on the competition but could put a fellow veteran out of a job after two preseason games.
Unfortunately, Dorian Thompson-Robinson's stay with the Eagles has not gone to plan, and that was emphasized in one play on Saturday, which sums up his time in the City of Brotherly Love.
DTR fumbles the snap, gets rocked, and pick sixed in one play 😅

Eagles' Thompson-Robinson Seals Fate with Disastrous Preseason Game
Valuing the ball is a primary job for any quarterback, regardless of the level at which they're competing. You can not expect to be trusted if you are careless with the football. Thompson-Robinson is learning this lesson in real time after spending two seasons with the Cleveland Browns, where expectations were far lower.
As you can see from the video clip above, the second half did not start well for Thompson-Robinson and the Eagles. After mishandling the snap, the former UCLA Bruins signal-caller was blown up by a defender, with the ball ultimately floating right into the hands of a defender. If that wasn't bad enough, the interception was returned for a score.
In the end, that pick-6 wound up being the difference in the game as Cleveland went on to pick up a 22-13 victory over Philadelphia. This drops the Eagles to 1-1 in the preseason after splitting their two exhibition games between Ohio's NFL teams.
To be fair, it is hard to find any real positives coming out of Thompson-Robinson's performance. He connected on 5/8 attempts for 17 yards passing and the interception that went back for a touchdown. That simply isn't good enough, no matter what team you're trying out for.
With Tanner McKee seemingly locking up the QB2 role for this season with his play throughout camp, Thompson-Robinson may need to hope that he can not only beat out rookie sixth-round pick and hometown prospect Kyle McCord but that Philadelphia elects to keep three QBs on the roster.
Plays like this one from Saturday's loss will not do Thompson-Robinson any favors, however.
