Eagles Proven Right About Terrace Marshall After He Signs with Dolphins

And just like that, Philly's call was the right one.

The Philadelphia Eagles made an early offseason decision when they opted to let wideout Terrace Marshall's practice squad contract expire last month. With the Eagles not offering him a futures contract, fans were intrigued to see where the depth pass-catcher would end up.

After a few weeks, Marshall proved the Eagles right. Instead of attracting a top team to sign him, the 25-year-old WR is signing with the Miami Dolphins, per NFL insider Adam Schefter. While it's too early to judge how the signing will pan out, it's safe to say Marshall likely wasn't attracting much attention.

Terrace Marshall's Post-Eagles Life Begins with a Rocky Start

Marshall was hyped up in the preseason by A.J. Brown to be the next big thing. Last July, Brown stated, "(Marshall's) coming along quite well, honestly. Even in the spring, he was making a lot of catches. I know you guys didn’t see it, but he’s going to make the room very uncomfortable, and that’s a great thing,"

Obviously, that didn't happen. Marshall didn't record an appearance with the Eagles in 2025. Even though the whole offense was in a tough spot with former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, Marshall's failure to find any way to get on the field can't be ignored.

How much of that is Patullo's fault is unclear. There were enough issues across the board in Philly that the Eagles' coaching staff was largely overhauled in the past few weeks.

Marshall simply never quite clicked in Philadelphia, making this fate fairly straightforward and expected for quite some time now. It is what it is. And what it is was a bad click for Marshall and the Birds, and a bold new step in an offense that may not have its QB1 for next season on the roster yet.

Marshall is no lock for the Dolphins roster next season, though being signed this early in the offseason shows an interest in keeping him from Miami's end. If Marshall becomes a free agent again, his next best fit would be the Seattle Seahawks.

Seattle has quarterback Sam Darnold, whom Marshall caught most passes from during their shared time together with the Carolina Panthers in 2022. Obviously, Darnold has come a long way from his tenure in Charlotte.

Of course, whether the Seahawks would want Marshall coming off what'd be a possible short-term stint with the Dolphins is another question altogether. Struggling to stick around with another team could leave the young playmaker with a stench he can't wash off.

In other words, the former Eagles WR must make this opportunity work in Miami Gardens before thinking of his next move. For all we know, the Dolphins could be his last NFL destination before needing a UFL stint to return to the highest level of professional football.
