Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Kyle Phillips has landed a new opportunity ahead of the 2025 season after not receiving a reserve/futures deal last week. Phillips signed with the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday, giving him a chance to play under new offensive coordinator (and former Eagles head coach) Chip Kelly.

The 25-year-old receiver will try to compete for a starting spot with the Raiders after spending the entire 2024 season with the Eagles. Philips started his career with the Tennessee Titans, who took him in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The 5-foot-11 wide receiver did not do much in his rookie season with the Titans, recording eight receptions (13 targets) for 78 yards in four games before being placed on injured reserve.

However, in his second year, Philips received more playing time, leading to 15 receptions (22 targets) for 181 yards in nine games. At the end of the preseason, Philips was placed on injured reserve and missed the first four games of the 2023 season.

With a new head coach taking over in Tennessee, Philips was on thin ice and did not make the final 53-man roster. The Titans waived the former fifth-round pick with an injury designation at the end of the preseason, but almost a week later he was signed to the Eagles practice squad.

Unlike other wide receivers on the Eagles practice squad (Parris Campbell, John Ross), Philips was not elevated to the active roster during game weeks. Philadelphia waived the former Titans wide receiver on Nov. 20 but quickly re-signed him to the practice squad a week later.

Despite not getting any playing time with the Eagles this season, Philips had a chance to watch and learn from guys like A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith throughout this season. Philips showed some flashes with the Titans but struggled to stay healthy.

That said, if Philips is past his injury woes, he might give himself a chance to make the Raiders’ roster, which will likely be overhauled this offseason.
