Last season, the Philadelphia Eagles had one of the most dominant defensive lines in the NFL. Even though they only finished the regular season with 41 sacks, tied for 14th in the NFL, they consistently affected opposing quarterbacks. This was showcased in the Super Bowl when they made Patrick Mahomes's life a living hell.

That said, Philadelphia saw two key contributors on their defensive line leave this offseason, Milton Williams and Josh Sweat. While replacing them may be tough, the Eagles did add help along their defensive line in free agency. As a result, one of their big additions on the defensive line during the 2024 offseason may be traded during the 2025 NFL draft.

Bryce Huff's Future in Philadelphia Remains a Huge Question Heading Into the NFL Draft

Last offseason, the Eagles signed Bryce Huff to a three-year deal worth $51.1 million. The 26-year-old was coming off a breakout season with the New York Jets, where he recorded 29 tackles, 10 TFLs, 10 sacks, 67 QB pressures, 12 QB hits, and 45 QB hurries, according to PFF. Huff's breakout campaign in 2023 was a continuation of his improvement in production from his first three seasons.

Unfortunately, Huff didn't live up to the contract the Eagles gave him in year one. In 2024, he recorded 13 tackles, 20 QB pressures, 17 QB hurries, three TFLs, 2.5 sacks, and one QB hit. While he did miss five games due to a torn ligament in his wrist, it doesn't excuse his lack of production.

Furthermore, Philadelphia added former New York Giants edge rusher Azeez Ojulari this offseason. Although an argument could be made that the 24-year-old was added for depth, it wouldn't be surprising if he was really added to compete with or replace Huff.

Given Huff's contract it's unlikely the Eagles will cut him, which means the only means of getting rid of him is a trade. For that reason, it wouldn't be a surprise if he was used as a piece in a draft day trade.
