The Philadelphia Eagles just lost passing game coordinator Christian Parker to the Dallas Cowboys, who hired Parker as their next defensive coordinator. Jerry Jones and Co. may not be done poaching the Birds just yet, though.
Per ESPN's Todd Archer, "The Cowboys are interviewing Eagles assistant LB coach Ronell Williams, who was the team’s nickel cornerback coach in 2023, per source. Obviously has a background with new DC Christian Parker."
Not only is Dallas on the hunt for one of Philadelphia's assistants, but so are the Miami Dolphins, following the Jeff Hafley hiring being made official.
"The Dolphins interviewed Eagles defensive line coach Clint Hurtt for their defensive coordinator opening, per sources," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler prefaced before saying, "Hurtt, a former Miami Hurricanes defensive tackle, coordinated Seattle’s defense from 2022-23 before joining Philly’s staff."
Reality must be setting in for Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni, who kick-started the turnover by firing offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. Now, it's other teams imposing changes on the Eagles' coaching staff. Parker was the first domino to fall, and now, more defensive position coaches are expected to find new homes.
Bad seasons cause turnover. Despite winning the NFC East, 2025 never kicked into full gear for Philadelphia. Within the context of coming off a Super Bowl win, it was a hard season to swallow in the City of Brotherly Love.
Vic Fangio Expected to Retire With Eagles
It doesn't appear that the end is near for defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Not every coach and coordinator is heading out the door.
Fangio claimed in 2024, upon his hiring, that he was hoping to retire in his home state with the Birds at some point. Fangio seemed uninterested in ever leaving Philly, since he's turning 68 this summer.
"I was a big Philly fan growing up in all sports. It was a thrill for me to go to work every day at Veterans Stadium 40 years ago because I used to go to games there all the time. And now it's a good thrill to come back 40 years later and hopefully finish it out here," Fangio said two years ago.
It's not all bad for the Eagles. As long as Sirriani can find a competent play-caller who could acquiesce to Jalen Hurts' skillset, and Roseman could extract value from an A.J. Brown trade this offseason, there's no reason to think the championship window is about to close in Philadelphia.
Let's not pretend these defensive losses don't hurt, though. Things appear like the losses will pile up, and Roseman and Sirianni will need to do plenty of interviewing soon to make sure that doesn't happen.
