Over the last four years, the Philadelphia Eagles have had one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. Last year, Philadelphia's offensive line led the way for Saquon Barkley to rush for over 2,000 yards and win the Super Bowl. That said, the Eagles lost right guard Mekhi Becton this offseason in free agency.

Becton's departure leaves veterans Tyler Steen and Matt Pryor battling for the starting gig. Both players have experience within the Eagles system. Though Steen is currently in line to start, he will need to have a good showing at training camp to secure the spot.

Tyler Steen Must Impress During Eagles Training Camp

The Eagles organization has been in a similar spot with Steen before. Entering last year's training camp, the former third-round pick was in position to be the starter. However, when he suffered a minor ankle injury in camp, Becton took over, and the rest was history.

Luckily for Steen, Pryor isn't as high-profile a player as Becton was. Becton was a former first-round pick with the New York Jets who didn't work out because of injuries. Yet, his potential talent was always there and just needed to be unlocked by the right coach, which just happened to be Jeff Stoutland.

On the other hand, Pryor has been a career backup journeyman. While that's a bad thing, it does mean Pryor doesn't have as much untapped potential as Becton did.

Still, Steen suffering another injury during training camp could be detrimental to his chances to start. This is because another injury could earn the 25-year-old the label of being injury-prone. Earning that label makes it hard to trust that an offensive lineman will be available for a majority of a season.

If Steen is able to stay on the field during training camp, then there is no question who the Eagles' right guard will be in 2025. Questions will only start to arise if he misses time like he did last year.
