The Philadelphia Eagles officially have their new QBs coach for the 2025 season. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Eagles have hired Bowling Green head coach Scot Loeffler to fill the void left by Doug Nussmeier.

Loeffler, a former Michigan quarterback, has been the head coach at Bowling Green State University the past six seasons and led them to a bowl game the last three years.
Nussmeier departed Philadelphia shortly after the Super Bowl to become the New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator on Kellen Moore’s staff. Loeffler is joining the Eagles after spending six years at Bowling Green.
Loeffler had a 27-41 record at Bowling Green but led the football program to a bowl game in each of the last three years. Before becoming the head coach at Bowling Green, Loeffler spent multiple years coaching in the college ranks at Boston College, Virginia Tech, Auburn, Temple, Florida, Michigan, and Central Michigan.
Among all his college coaching experience, Loeffler spent a year coaching in the NFL with the Detroit Lions. In 2008, Loeffler was the Lions’ QB coach on Rod Marinelli’s staff. However, the QB play during that season was not great as the Lions went 0-16.
The Lions had five different quarterbacks see action in 2008, including Dan Orlovsky, Daunte Culpepper, and Jon Kitna. Orlovsky completed 56.1 percent of his passes for 1,616 yards, eight touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
Meanwhile, Culpepper recorded a 52.2 completion percentage, and threw for 786 yards, four touchdowns, and six interceptions.
That said, Eagles fans hope things will be different this time around. Since then, Loeffler has worked with various quarterbacks, including Tim Tebow, Logan Thomas, and Anthony Brown. Loeffler also played with Tom Brady at Michigan, and we saw how things played out for Brady in the pros.

Nonetheless, we’ll see if Loeffler can bring over anything he learned in the collegiate ranks to the NFL for his second stint as he’ll work with Jalen Hurts, Kenny Pickett, and Tanner McKee.
