Eagles Legend Jason Kelce Gets Surprise New Job
Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Kelce had huge news to share when he appeared on Thursday's edition of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
The all-time great center told Kimmel that beginning on Friday nights in January, the 37-year-old Eagles fan favorite will be hosting "They Call It Late Night With Jason Kelce." The five-episode series will be "filmed in front of a live audience from Union Transfer in Philadelphia" and will first hit the airwaves at 1 a.m. ET on Jan. 4.
"I loved late-night shows. I've always loved them," Kelce told Kimmel during his interview. "I remember sleepovers watching Conan O'Brien with my friends."
Late-night shows have been an important part of television for the last several decades, featuring a wide variety of guests from athletes and musicians to actors and even former presidents. The seven-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman wants to keep a similar trend going with his own show.
"We're going to have a bunch of guys up there: legends of the game, friends that I played with, coaches, celebrities," Kelce said.
Displaying one of the NFL's biggest personalities ever since he joined the league, Kelce should have a seamless transition to becoming a late-night host. The ex-Cincinnati blocker has made strides as an ESPN NFL analyst this season and has shown off his interview skills through his time co-hosting the "New Heights" podcast with brother and Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis.
Regardless of who he winds up sitting down with, Eagles fans will be tuning in to see how Kelce handles his new job. If he's even half as good at hosting a talk show as he was on the gridiron, it might not be long before he replaces the likes of Kimmel on late-night TV.
While staying up beyond midnight might be quite the endeavor for some Philadelphia fans, "They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce" will be able to be viewed on repeat on ESPN, ESPN+, and various YouTube channels.
