The Philadelphia Eagles have been quite active in keeping and acquiring players to start this offseason. Before free agency opened, Philadelphia added two more years to running back Saquon Barkley's deal and extended linebacker Zack Baun. Since free agency opened on Monday, the Eagles have signed four players and completed two trades.
One of the trades saw safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson and a 2026 sixth-round pick traded to the Houston Texans for guard Kenyon Green and a 2025 fifth-round pick. This trade may have set alarm bells off in some Eagles fans' heads, given it could be taken as a signal that Philadelphia isn't interested in bringing back Mekhi Becton.
Fortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case. On Wednesday, Ian Rapoport appeared on Good Morning Football to provide an update on the situation with Becton and the Eagles. Rapoport simply stated that just because the Eagles traded for Green doesn't mean they are out on Becton. That's positive news for Eagles fans after the season the 25-year-old guard just had.

Eagles Re-Signing Mekhi Becton Remains a Possibility
This past season, Becton showed why he is a former 11th overall pick. In 2024, he allowed just three sacks, two QB hits, 20 QB hurries and 25 QB pressures, according to Pro Football Focus. Furthermore, Becton finished the season with a 75.2 overall grade, a 53.6 pass-blocking grade, and a 74.7 run-blocking grade.
There are two key factors that contributed to Becton's solid season with the Eagles. First off, this is the first season he didn't suffer an injury. As the old saying goes, the best ability is availability, and Becton showed that in 2024.
That said, the more important element of the 25-year-old's solid season in Philadelphia was the coaching. Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, one of the best in the game, converted Becton from a tackle to a guard. Based on Stoutland's track record with offensive linemen, Becton's play shouldn't have been surprising.
Yet, to much of the NFL world, it was. Despite his success in Philadelphia, Becton is currently testing the open market. As of now, no team has signed him, meaning him being an Eagle in 2025 is a possibility as long as he is willing to take less money.
