The Philadelphia Eagles selected a hometown kid with one of their picks in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, as a former St. Joseph's Prep standout will be coming home to begin his professional career.

With the No. 181 overall pick, the Eagles made former Syracuse University standout Kyle McCord the newest member of their roster and it seems safe to assume that he will quickly become a fan favorite in the city where he once was a prep star.

Let's make this clear, no one is suggesting that McCord will be anything more than a backup to All-Pro quarterback Jalen Hurts, but the draft pick should step in and be an immediate upgrade from the other signal callers on the roster, Tanner McKee and Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

When given the opportunity to start at the collegiate level, McCord was impressive at both Ohio State University, where he spent the first three years of his college career, and Syracuse as over the last two seasons he recorded a total of 7,949 yards passing and 58 touchdowns to just 18 interceptions. His senior season with the Orange was one for the record books as McCord threw for an astonishing 4,779 yards and 34 touchdowns in 13 starts.

With McCord returning to a city he is quite familiar with his transition from a college standout to an NFL quarterback should be a smoother one than his counterparts who may be up and moving to locations they've never even visited, let alone spent a significant portion of their life living in.

Who knows what the future will hold for the quarterback in the City of Brotherly Love but one can imagine there will be plenty of fans sticking around a bit longer throughout the preseason in order to get a look at the Eagles new quarterback in his homecoming.
