Philadelphia Eagles veteran tight end Dallas Goedert has had his name mentioned in trade rumors this offseason as he’s entering the last year of his deal.

The former second-round pick is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in 2026, and there’s been no indication that a potential extension is on the horizon. When healthy, Goedert has established himself as one of the top 10 tight ends in the league.

Goedert played in 10 games last season (career-low) due to multiple visits to injured reserve, but when they needed him in the postseason, he stepped up – 17 receptions (20 targets) for 215 yards and a touchdown.

However, with this year’s tight end draft class being one of the best in recent memory, you can not blame the Eagles for exploring a potential replacement.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, if the Eagles move on Goedert, he believes that Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson could be a potential Day 2 option.

“If the Eagles move on from Dallas Goedert, tight end could make sense for them on Day 2, a potential sweet spot for Ferguson.” The senior NFL insider also wrote that the former Oregon pass-catcher is the third-best tight end prospect out of the Big Ten behind Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland.

An AFC executive told Fowler that Ferguson is a good athlete but has room for improvement in the physicality department.

"Good athlete, probably not as physical as you'd like, the AFC executive said to Fowler. Not quite as finesse as [Mike] Gesicki but not as physical as you'd hope. Though I think he has worked to answer that in the pre-draft process and the Senior Bowl."

The 6-foot-6 tight end had a solid four-year career with the Ducks, recording 134 receptions for 1,537 yards and 16 touchdowns. Last year, Ferguson shined with Dillon Gabriel under center, posting a career-high in receptions (43) and receiving yards (591) while adding three scores.

Even though Ferguson’s physicality might not be up to par, along with his blocking, the Eagles might be intrigued by having a tight end with above route running skills and good athleticism in their passing game, which features A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Saquon Barkley at the skill positions.
