The Philadelphia Eagles ended the regular season with a 20-13 win over the New York Giants on Sunday. With the 2024 regular season in the rearview mirror, the Eagles will turn their attention to the playoffs as they will play the Green Bay Packers next week.

Philadelphia should have a full healthy team for next week’s playoff game against the Packers, which will be a rematch of their Week 1 matchup. One of the biggest injury updates Eagles fans are waiting for is on star quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Hurts missed the last two games of the season after suffering a concussion in Philly’s Week 15 loss to the Washington Commanders.

After Sunday’s win over the Giants, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni provided a new update on Hurts.

According to ESPN’s Tim McManus, Sirianni said the young quarterback continues to progress through the concussion protocol. Sirianni added Hurts was present at Saturday’s walkthrough, but wouldn’t say whether it represents a step forward.

It’s not a shock that Sirianni was non-committal about Hurts’ status for next week’s game as he likely wants to leave the Packers in the dark about whether he’ll play. However, the fact that Hurts was present at the walkthrough on Saturday is a positive sign.

The next step for Hurts is making it through practice or two this week. If Hurts can do that, he’ll likely pass through the league’s concussion protocol and play against Green Bay. The Eagles are 3.5-point favorites over Green Bay on FanDuel Sportsbook, which likely indicates that the oddsmakers believe Hurts will play.

When these two teams played each other in Week 1 in Brazil, Hurts struggled with turnovers (two interceptions). But he threw for 278 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 33 yards. Hurts has done a good job of taking care of the football over the last several weeks and needs to do that in the playoffs.
