The Philadelphia Eagles and their fans are still enjoying the high that came from their dominant win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
With the NFL Draft now in the rearview mirror and options on the free agent market thinning out with each passing day, Howie Roseman and the Eagles are putting together the pieces to help them complete their 53-man roster for the 2025 campaign once it kicks off this fall.
While Philadelphia has welcomed a number of new faces to the Eagles since the offseason began, it appears as though one fan favorite has said his goodbye to the city of Philadelphia.
Britain Covey made an Instagram post over the weekend seemingly thanking Eagles fans, stating, "Can't put into words how much Philly has meant me and my little family." Many have taken this as a sign he won't be returning to the team despite being unsigned at the moment.
Covey joined the Eagles in 2022 after being undrafted following his collegiate career at the University of Utah. Unlike many other undrafted prospects who hope to just cling on to an NFL roster spot, Covey thrived in Philadelphia as he became one of the top return specialists in the league.
Over the course of his three seasons with the Eagles, Covey had over 1,000 return yards with his performance throughout the 2023 campaign proving to be enough for him to be listed as an alternate for the Pro Bowl.
Returning punts and kicks isn't the flashiest way to make a living in the NFL. It was a role that Covey enjoyed success in early in his career though and should open the door for him to find another opportunity in the league, assuming his injury troubles of 2024 are past him.
There are no doubts that Covey and everything he brought to the franchise will be missed moving forward. Eagles fans will continue to root for him though, as long as whatever team he joins isn't playing Philadelphia that week.
