Last season, the Philadelphia Eagles were the NFL’s ultimate winners. After a 2-2 start, Philadelphia won 16 of their final 17 games including a 40-22 demolition of the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. The second title in franchise history was worth celebrating but fans are looking for different kinds of winners as the 2025 season approaches.
There are several players that found themselves in better situations coming out of the offseason. Jalyx Hunt and Moro Ojomo step into starting roles with the departure of Josh Sweat and Milton Williams. Dallas Goedert stiff-armed trade rumors to likely return to Philadelphia next season. But there’s one player who may have been the biggest winner of all and could enter next season with a massive opportunity.
Kelee Ringo is the Eagles Biggest Offseason Winner in 2025
Kelee Ringo’s time in the NFL didn’t get off to a great start. A first-round prospect out of Georgia, Ringo’s game-sealing interception for a touchdown against Alabama in the 2022 College Football Championship game put him on the map. But a torn labrum suffered in his freshman year and his lack of a true position had him fall to the fourth round of the 2023 draft.
The Eagles were willing to stop Ringo’s fall and it may have been the best thing to happen to him. His 8.29 relative athletic score (RAS) coming out of Athens was enticing enough for the Eagles to take a flier and he was able to develop while Darius Slay and James Bradberry held down the starting corner spots.
When Philadelphia selected Toledo’s Quinyon Mitchell and Iowa’s Cooper DeJean in the first two rounds of last year’s draft, it could have been seen as a bad thing for Ringo. But Ringo’s development continued and he is in line to get his opportunity now that Slay has moved on to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
There are reasons to be weary about Ringo in a starting role. Ringo has just 362 snaps combined over his first two seasons and allowed nine catches for 125 yards and a touchdown with an interception on 16 targets. Penalties have also been a problem in the past as Ringo committed nine penalties during his final year at Georgia and four more during his rookie season.
However, there are also several positives to consider. Ringo didn’t spend much time on the field during his first two seasons, but he learned from an All-Pro corner in Slay and two rookies (Mitchell, DeJean) that acclimated quickly in last year’s draft. Ringo is also extremely young as he’ll turn 23 next month.
An athletic player who needs time to develop has been the type of player the Eagles have targeted in drafts. Players like Williams (third round, 2021 draft) and Sweat (fourth round, 2018 draft) were a pair of players who waited their turn before thriving in major roles and Ringo has the opportunity to do the same.
With no added competition in the draft or free agency, Ringo has a big opportunity to impress in 2025. In an offseason where the Eagles have lost plenty, Ringo is one of the holdovers that could be the biggest winner.
