The Philadelphia Eagles used their offensive line to pave the way to a Super Bowl win one year ago. But as they’ve looked to defend their title in 2025, that path has been a much bumpier road.

Most of the complaints have occurred in the passing game, where A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith screamed for Kevin Patullo to get them the ball. But the offensive line has also dealt with its share of injuries, including guard Landon Dickerson and center Cam Jurgens.

While Dickerson is set to be in the lineup when the Eagles host the New York Giants this weekend, the same can’t be said for Jurgens. According to Brooks Kubena of The Athletic, Jurgens has been ruled out of Sunday’s game with a knee injury, and it leaves Brett Toth in line to start and confirm Eagles fans’ worst fears.

Eagles’ Offensive Line Depth Tested Again with Brett Toth in the Spotlight

Toth’s projected start is a problem for the Eagles' offensive line. Serving in his third stint with the team, he spent the majority of the year on Philadelphia’s practice squad before being promoted for the Eagles' run to the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, Toth has had to play more thanks to the Eagles' injuries along the offensive line, and it has not gone well.

The Eagles played Toth for 11 offensive snaps through the first four weeks, but his playing time shot up beginning with 49 snaps in the Week 5 matchup with the Denver Broncos. While Toth got a start in the Week 6 loss to the Giants, his overall body of work hasn’t been great, posting a 61.4 overall grade and allowing seven pressures with two sacks over 95 snaps the last three weeks.

Toth’s presence hasn’t sunk the Eagles’ offensive line, which ranks fifth in PFF’s offensive line ranking entering Week 8. But after Jurgens lost in last week’s win over the Vikings, it’s a concern if Toth has to play more snaps going forward.

For at least one week, Eagles fans will have to hold their breath and hope Toth plays well enough to help them win. If he can keep the line afloat, Jurgens could be able to return soon and give some normalcy to an offensive line that has had a bumpy ride in 2025.
