The Philadelphia Eagles have used the last few months to make some tweaks to the roster. They'll have the foundation of their team returning in 2025 and used the NFL draft to bring in some new players.

In the first round, Philadelphia snagged LB Jihaad Campbell to bolster the middle of their defensive unit, but defensive coordinator Vic Fangio didn't provide the best update on the rookie.

When speaking to the media on Tuesday, Fangio acknowledged that it'll be a while until he steps on the field.

Fangio said, "[Campbell] won’t see the practice field until some time in August.”

Jihaad Campbell Won’t Practice Until August

The Eagles knew Campbell was dealing with multiple injuries when drafting him. He has a history of shoulder and knee problems. After the NFL Scouting Combine, Campbell underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

The Eagles aren't going to rush back into action. While it's not the best that Campbell is missing valuable reps in OTAs and minicamp, but getting on the field during training camp will be the most important thing.

Players will report for training camp on July 23, and the first practice will be the following day. Fangio's timeline is pretty vague around Campbell, and it won't make fans feel better currently, as it's only June.

Thankfully for the Birds, they have an All-Pro Zack Baun as their starting linebacker, giving Campbell the time to ease in.

The Alabama product is very athletic in the middle of the field. He has outstanding sideline-to-sideline speed with the awareness to consistently find the ball carrier. During the 2024 season with the Crimson Tide, Campbell had 117 total tackles, 11.5 TFLs, five sacks, three pass deflections, and two forced fumbles.

Philadelphia clearly believes in his talents, which is why they made him the 31st overall pick. He'll use the next couple of months to rest up and hopefully be ready to roll when Week 1 comes around.
