GM Howie Roseman has had a busy week. He signed Saquon Barkley to a contract extension and made sure standout linebacker Zack Baun didn't hit free agency. With the tampering period starting on Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles still have a ton of work to do this offseason.

The Eagles have a few key free agents that they need to make a decision on. Mekhi Becton, Josh Sweat, and Milton Williams all need new deals, and the Eagles almost certainly have to make the tough call of parting ways with one of them. It's hard to imagine Philadelphia fitting all three starters into their salary structure.

Williams will be especially difficult to retain. After his breakout campaign in his fourth season, the 25-year-old defensive tackle will command a big offer on the free-agent market. His dominant Super Bowl performance, combined with his incredible 91.7 PFF pass rush grade- the highest among interior defenders- makes him the top free-agent target for many teams.

Fortunately for the Eagles, they may have a cheaper way to replace him with a familiar face. The San Francisco 49ers just released Javon Hargrave, and the former Eagle could be a decent option for Philadelphia.

Eagles Should Consider Bringing Back DT Javon Hargrave

Hargrave had signed a four-year, $84 million deal with the 49ers after three successful seasons with the Eagles. Three games into his 2024 campaign, however, Hargrave tore his triceps and was ruled out for the rest of the season. With two more seasons left on his deal, the 49ers opted for more cap space instead.

In his last healthy season, Hargrave was still a Pro Bowler, receiving a PFF grade of 73.9. The season prior to that, the veteran defender had a career-high 11 sacks, 37 solo tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 16 QB hits for the Eagles.

Plus, it was reported earlier this week that Hargrave is fully healthy and ready to play. At age 32, he is probably not at the same level he was in his Pro Bowl season in Philadelphia, but he still has gas left in the tank. It's hard to imagine the Eagles doing better than Hargrave on the free-agent market.
