Eagles' Bryce Huff Situation Somehow Just Got Even Worse Before Week 12 Game
By Jovan Alford
In the offseason, the Eagles made a monumental change on the defensive line, signing free agent pass rusher Bryce Huff to a huge three-year deal and trading Haason Reddick to the New York Jets.
Based on his production last season with the Jets, the Eagles thought they were getting a rising star in Huff to help anchor this defensive line. However, the former Jets defender has struggled to make an impact in his first season in Philadelphia.
Huff has produced 10 combined tackles, eight quarterback pressures, four quarterback hits, three tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks in 10 games. The 26-year-old defensive end has seen his playing time decrease recently, catching the attention of Eagles fans.
However, Huff had been wearing a cast on his hand due to a thumb injury. It appears that the veteran defender will try to get his injury fixed.
According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Huff will undergo a procedure on his wrist on Thursday.
Andrew DiCecco of InsideTheBirds.com adds Huff has been playing through the injury over the past two weeks and that the procedure gives the young pass rusher a chance to return for the stretch run late in the season.
This isn’t ideal news for the Eagles’ defense, which has been playing phenomenal football over their six-game winning streak. However, without Huff on the field, it will afford more opportunities for rookie Jalyx Hunt, who played 25 defensive snaps in Week 10 against the Cowboys.
We’ll likely see more of Nolan Smith Jr., who has stepped up in year two. He has posted three sacks in the last six games.
