The Philadelphia Eagles saw multiple players head elsewhere this offseason, much like every other NFL team. At the same time, they had to find other players to replace their departures in order to have a real shot at repeating as Super Bowl Champions.

One offseason transaction saw linebacker Azeez Ojulari sign with Philadelphia on a one-year, $3 million deal after spending the first four years of his career with the New York Giants.

Several defensive linemen like Josh Sweat, Bryce Huff, and Milton Williams will be playing football in different locations this fall, and Philly had to find replacements. That's where Ojulari steps in, but one year in Philly could lead to him landing a lucrative deal in free agency, pricing him out of Philadelphia next offseason.

Eagles LB Azeez Ojulari Could Spend Just One Season in Philly

Ojulari came into the league as a second-round pick by the Giants in the 2021 NFL draft. He missed time in New York due to knee, toe, calf, quad, and ankle injuries. Since playing all 17 games as a rookie, he hasn't played more than 11 games in any season.

Over 46 career games (30 starts), the Georgia product has secured 107 total tackles, 37 quarterback hits, 21 tackles for loss, and 22 sacks.

Ojulari has tallied at least five sacks in three of his four seasons, and playing on a defensive line that features standout defenders like Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith will certainly benefit him. In addition, the departures all along the defensive line have freed up reps for the taking.

If he's able to come through and be effective rushing the passer, he'll easily land a multi-year deal in free agency. NFL teams are always looking for pass rushers, and Ojulari will have the golden opportunity to take full advantage of what's in front of him.

The Eagles will enter the 2026 offseason with around $21 million in cap space, per Spotrac. What they plan on doing with that money remains to be seen, but there's easily a world where they let Ojulari walk and look to replace him with a low-cost addition in free agency or the NFL draft.
