Stop me if you've heard this before, Philadelphia Eagles fans. Starting tight end Dallas Goedert is reportedly dealing with an injury issue that could prevent him from taking the field this Sunday.

According to Eliot Shorr-Parks of SportsRadio 94WIP, the Eagles' veteran tight end is dealing with a sprained knee. That has left his status for Sunday's game at Arrowhead Stadium in question as fans turn the page to the matchup on the horizon in Week 2.

While it is uncertain at this time what this knee issue could mean for Goedert's status moving forward, it is a continuation of a concerning trend that has followed him throughout his career in the City of Brotherly Love.

Goedert's Knee Injury Puts Eagles in Tough Spot Against Chiefs in Week 2

It is important to note that Shorr-Park's report suggests that there are unlikely to be any long-term issues as a result of Goedert's latest injury. With that being said, losing him for any amount of time, especially with a game against Kansas City Chiefs just days away, is not going to make life any easier on Nick Sirianni and the offensive coaching staff this Sunday.

Given that A.J. Brown is clearly still hampered by the hamstring strain that forced him to miss the preseason, one of the top options on the outside is already functioning at less than 100%. Without even taking into account that Goedert led the Eagles with seven receptions in their season-opening win over the Dallas Cowboys, the veteran tight end's absence would only make an already dinged-up passing attack face a steeper climb against a Kansas City defense with plenty to prove.

Going from Goedert as the TE1 to Grant Calcaterra filling that role would only throw the rest of the offense into flux, as the team also has to address the absence of starting FB Ben VanSumeren. Calcaterra seems like one of the most logical fits to take on that role to help clear the path for All-Pro running back Saquon Barkley. If he's forced into duties as the starting tight end, that job could then fall on the shoulders of third-string TE Kylen Granson.

Needless to say, the loss of Goedert for any amount of time would force the Eagles to shake things up on offense. Injuries on the outside aren't the only area where Philadelphia has been impacted thus far, though. The running back room is going through issues of its own following the injury to Will Shipley and the addition of Tank Bigsby to the roster.

With all of these variables at play, Goedert being healthy enough to give it a go on Sunday would make things much easier on the defending champions. Regardless of his status for that game, though, this could be the start of another injury-filled season for Goedert.
