On Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles locked in another key member from their Super Bowl team last season, signing Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens to a four-year, $68 million contract extension, which includes $39.4 million guaranteed.
Jurgens joins Zack Baun, Saquon Barkley, and Lane Johnson as the only Eagles players to get a contract extension this offseason. The former second-round pick is entering the last year of his rookie deal, so it was only right for the Eagles to keep him with the organization through the 2029 campaign.
The 25-year-old offensive lineman is excited to be with the franchise for the foreseeable future, posting on Twitter/X, “Staying home, GO BIRDS!!!”

Eagles fans were ecstatic to see Jurgens sign an extension, who played well in his first year as the team’s full-time starting center.
The young lineman played an instrumental role in Barkley's career year in 2024, rushing for 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns on 345 carries. According to Pro Football Focus, Jurgens had a 68.5 run blocking grade (19th among 64 eligible centers).
When the Eagles drafted Jurgens in 2022, he was considered the heir apparent to future Hall of Famer Jason Kelce. However, Jurgens didn’t get that opportunity to start as he appeared mostly on special teams as a rookie and started at right guard in 2023.
But when Kelce announced his retirement from the NFL after the 2023 season, it opened the door for Jurgens to take over at center. As the full-time starter, he did his job and battled through injury during the postseason.
The Eagles hope Jurgens can build off what he did in 2024 and take it to another level in 2025. They’ve done a great job developing offensive linemen and turning them into Pro Bowlers and future Hall of Famers. We’ll see if Jurgens can continue to build on his legacy in Eagles’ green as they try to defend their title in 2025.
