The Philadelphia Eagles handled their business on Thursday night, defeating the Washington Commanders 26-18, to take sole control of first place in the NFC East.

Many analysts wanted to see if this Eagles team was real after ripping off five straight wins heading into tonight’s matchup.

After a slow start in the first half, the Eagles proved that this current win streak is not a fluke. They got their run game going and the defense stymied Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Philadelphia held the Commanders’ offense to 3-for-12 on third downs and Daniels to 191 passing yards, a touchdown, and an interception. The Eagles’ defense kept Daniels in the pocket, sacking him three times and holding him to 18 rushing yards (second-lowest total this season).

After the game, the Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson had some words for the Commanders, while walking back to the locker room.

“Washington. Respect y’all, but y’all know this s*** runs through us,” the veteran defensive back (h/t Brooks Kubena of The Athletic).

Gardner-Johnson had three combined tackles and a pass deflection in the eight-point win. The Eagles have set themselves up nicely with 10 days until their Week 12 matchup on the road against the Los Angeles Rams.

They are 8-2 overall and a perfect 3-0 in the division. If the playoffs started today, the Eagles would have the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs, which would be huge.  However, Philadelphia still has work to do to clinch a top-two seed.
