Big Eagles Changes Rumored Coming Out of Bye Week
The Philadelphia Eagles are 2-2 on the season and had their bye in Week 5. The vibes weren't the best as the Eagles dropped two of their last three games.
They were without some key playmakers but should be getting receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith back in Week 6.
Not only are they getting healthier but the Eagles are also considering making some tweaks to the defensive side of the ball. It's already been reported that Cooper DeJean will take over as the slot corner in Week 6, meanwhile, a reporter suggested a few other moves that could happen.
Eagles News: Anthony DiBona Discusses Some Potential Changes for Philadelphia
Anthony DiBona of PFN365 decided to come up with some inferences on what defensive changes the Eagles could make. He listed that rookie Jeremiah Trotter Jr. potentially getting some looks at linebacker.
This was confirmed as head coach Nick Sirianni said that Trotter Jr. is the backup MIKE linebacker. Even though Dean is second on the team in total tackles (26), he leaves a lot to be desired on the field. He has a 41.9 overall grade and 52 run defense grade per PFF.
Trotter Jr. has good eye discipline and play speed, which gives him a shot at being productive.
The Eagles are tied for 31st in the NFL in team sacks with just six. DiBona added that Jalyx Hunt played well last in Week 4, logging five snaps. He may see more snaps as Philadelphia looks for more juice off the edge.
The last thing that DiBona suggested was that Sydney Brown be the team's dime linebacker if he's activated for Week 6. Brown has been rehabbing from a torn ACL but once he returns, would give them more speed and versatility in both run defense and pass coverage.
The Eagles need to change some things around so they can start stacking up some wins. If not, it may be a long 2024 campaign.
