Former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid remains a respected piece of the organization's history. Watching Reid coach the Kansas City Chiefs, it is fair to wonder what could have been. However, where there is never any question is with the head coach having his players' backs. Whether it is a current Chief or a former player from Reid's first years as a coach, the veteran will loyally support his guys.

This was the case with former Philly receiver DeSean Jackson, who is the new head coach for Delaware State. Jackson said of Reid, “He put his career and his name on the line to get me this job.” Talking about how the coach helped push his coaching career forward and helped Jackson take the next step in his career. The former Eagle is a beloved former player remembered for his speed and game-breaking plays.

Andy Reid Supported DeSean Jackson's Efforts to Transition into a Coaching Career

When Jackson was being interviewed, Andy Reid was one of the names the veteran willingly dropped for the school to check in with. Jackson expounded that he believed Reid was among those who championed his leadership and winning mentality. The current Kansas City head coach was the first name out of the receiver's mouth when talking about those who deserved credit for helping him along the way.

The former Eagle mentioned Deion Sanders and Sean McVay as other established coaches he believed helped him land the new position. It was a great interview that showed Jackson's willingness to credit those who helped him along the way while also having the healthy self-confidence needed to lead players at the college level.

For Jackson, it is a great opportunity to put his name on the map in college football and begin taking steps forward in his coaching career. It seems fitting that it was Andy Reid who helped make this happen for one of his former players. It speaks to the type of man the head coach is and the respect he garners not only around the league but in college as well. A great story for both former Eagles as they continue impressive careers.
