With the NFL trade deadline on the horizon, the Philadelphia Eagles are expected to be active over the next 24-to-36 hours. The Eagles got a head start on their trade deadline shopping list, as they acquired cornerbacks Michael Carter II and Jaire Alexander this week. While the Eagles have been busy buying, one item that's not on their to-do list is trading star wide receiver A.J. Brown.

Over the last few weeks, Brown’s name has popped up in trade chatter, which makes no sense for financial reasons. But based on his play and demeanor, there’s a belief that the veteran wide receiver is available.

However, Jay Glazer of FOX Sports squashed those rumors on Sunday morning as he reported that a couple of teams have asked about Brown, but those teams received "a hard no" in return, which signals that Brown is likely to stay in Philadelphia beyond Tuesday's deadline.

Eagles Star WR AJ Brown Staying Put Ahead of Trade Deadline

Glazer’s report on Sunday lines up with what ESPN’s Adam Schefter said earlier this week, who also said he doesn’t expect Brown to get moved by the deadline. While some NFL teams wish that Brown were on the trade block, Eagles fans are happy to see the team has no intentions of moving him as of right now as everyone knows what this team is at its best when everyone on offense is getting theirs and clicking on all cylinders.

The Eagles’ passing game and the offense as a whole have been a work in progress throughout this season, with Brown being at the center of that discussion. In seven games this season, the 28-year-old playmaker has 29 receptions (51 targets) for 395 yards and three touchdowns. While these numbers are low for Brown’s standard, he still ranks second on the team in targets and third on the team in receiving yards and touchdowns.

The veteran receiver missed the Eagles’ last game against the New York Giants before the bye with a hamstring issue. However, in Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings, Brown let everyone know that he’s still one of the better receivers in the league, posting four receptions (six targets) for 121 yards and two touchdowns.

That said, the Eagles hope that Brown can have a strong second half as they are set to play the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football in Week 10.
