For most of the season, the Philadelphia Eagles struggled with the CB2 spot. Kelee Ringo didn't take advantage of his opportunities, and moving Cooper DeJean to the outside created more problems than solutions.
Fortunately for Vic Fangio, it seems like Adoree' Jackson has finally figured things out. Once a liability, the 30-year-old defender has turned the corner in the past couple of weeks. He's given up just five catches for 44 yards on ten targets, logging one pick and one pass breakup. Of course, that's great news for this team ahead of the playoffs, but maybe not so much in the offseason.
Adoree' Jackson Might be Playing Himself Out of the Eagles' Price Range
Jackson's early-season struggles made him an obvious candidate to walk away in free agency, but the late-season turnaround should make the Eagles think twice. That being said, another desperate team might overpay after watching him dominate in a small sample size, and with the Eagles looking to keep Jaelan Phillips and Nakobe Dean around for the long run, there might not be enough money to spread.
On top of that, Jackson might not even want to return. While this improved play might come from motivation, he already knows that the Eagles weren't so sure about him. Moving DeJean and trying their luck with Ringo made it loud and clear that there weren't any guarantees for him in the City of Brotherly Love.
All in all, Adoree' Jackson's Pro Football Focus grade of 56.9 is far from encouraging. It ranks 79th among 112 eligible cornerbacks, and he only has one interception for the season. That being said, he still has three more games and the playoffs to make a case for himself and prove to be worth keeping around.
As things stand now, this team can't afford to have another liability in the secondary. Reed Blankenship has already struggled enough for Jackson to be another headache, and the team already knows what they're going to get from DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell.
This team hasn't been as dominant as in the previous campaign, but it can still finish the season on a high note. That being said, it wouldn't be much of a surprise to see them right back in the hunt for another starting-caliber cornerback in the 2026 NFL draft, as it's hard to believe Jackson will be there after how things have fared this season.
