6. Garrett Stubbs

With J.T. Realmuto getting older and struggling at the plate, the Phillies should consider finding an upgrade at backup catcher.

Stubbs has been a fan-favorite in Philadelphia over the last few years because of the vibes. But he’s not the perfect offensive backup catcher that the Phillies need.

The 31-year-old has only played 141 games over his three-year run with the Phillies. Stubbs appeared in 54 games, hitting .207 with a home run and 11 RBI this season.

Philadelphia doesn’t expect much from him offensively as he does a solid job defensively behind the plate, but he’s not someone they can count on for an extended period.

Stubbs has arbitration this offseason, where the Phillies could keep him around. But if the team believes in Rafael Marchan, who played well when called up from the minors this season (.294 with three home runs and 6 RBI), he should be the backup.
