7 Phillies Who Won't Be Back in 2025 After Major Postseason Letdown

With Red October ending on Wednesday night to the New York Mets, several Phillies might not be on the roster in 2025.

5. Brandon Marsh

If the Phillies want to shake up their lineup for 2025, they might have to trade Brandon Marsh or Alec Bohm.

Granted, it’s not perfect for the Phillies as they don’t have bonafide starters at center or left field, but Marsh looked lost at the plate in the postseason. The 26-year-old outfielder hit a putrid .077 at the plate in the NLDS, the same batting average Bohm had.

Nonetheless, it's unacceptable for Marsh and Bohm. The Phillies didn’t play Marsh in Game 3 because he’s struggled to hit left-handed pitching this season. In the regular season, Marsh hit .192 in 78 at-bats.

If you look at what he did in 2023, Marsh hit .229 in 96 at-bats against southpaws, a drop-off at the plate. Marsh still hit .249 with 16 home runs and 49 RBIs this season.

But for this team to be successful in 2025, they need an offensive upgrade in the outfield. Justin Crawford isn’t ready yet for the big leagues but he’s on his way.

Marsh can play defense with the best of them, but that doesn’t help when you struggle to hit against left-handed pitchers and you have to platoon. Marsh has arbitration coming up, so it might not cost a lot of money for the Phillies to bring back in 2025.
