2. Jahan Dotson, WR
The Eagles moving on from Jahan Dotson does not make sense from a financial perspective unless they are trading him away, so he would be on the chopping block only in the form of a trade. But Philadelphia could save nearly $2.8 million by trading him at any point this offseason.
Dotson is a former first-round pick who was an obvious disappointment in Washington with the Commanders. He was so disappointing that the Commanders traded him to a division rival.
Although that trade is looking better and better for the Commanders by the day, it doesn't change the fact that this was a failed pick by that organization, and Dotson didn't exactly latch on with the Eagles like anyone hoped he would. He caught just 19 passes for 216 yards and no touchdowns this past season for the Eagles, though he did have a touchdown in the postseason.
Considering the Eagles had a need this past year for someone to step up into a bigger role at the receiver position when guys were dealing with injuries, the lack of overall production from Dotson is about as telling as it gets. I don't think the Eagles would hesitate to send him away in another pick swap if they could recoup some value and just consider this move a failed rental.
Otherwise, they're going to be pretty much stuck with the roughly $2.8 million in salary cap space being taken up by a player who probably won't be in the team's plans beyond this year, and someone who played only five special teams snaps in 2024.
