3. Johnny Wilson, WR
There was a decent amount of hype surrounding rookie wideout Johnny Wilson following the 2024 NFL draft. Even though Day 3 picks aren't expected to immediately crack a 53-man roster, the 6-foot-6 receiver had Eagles fans believing in him after racking up 1,514 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 84 catches in two seasons at Florida State.
Despite being one of the NFL's most physically gifted rookie wideouts, Wilson failed to make an impact in Year 1. The former Seminoles WR struggled to maintain any semblance of success, finishing his debut season having caught 5-of-15 targets (33.3%) for 38 yards and a TD before ending the playoffs without a catch.
If that wasn't bad enough, his 48.4 offense grade ranked fourth-worst among 133 eligible wideouts on PFF.
Although he's only been with the Eagles for less than a season, Wilson's future in Philadelphia is hardly guaranteed. Hardly any of his rookie contract is guaranteed, meaning the Eagles can save $861,496 if they release/trade him before June 1, and those savings will increase to $960,000 after that date, according to Spotrac.
Wilson is still young enough to have a successful NFL career, but it's clear he has an uphill battle to prove he's capable of that success. If he struggles to prove his worth to Nick Sirianni & Co. this offseason, don't be surprised if the Dover, OH native is playing elsewhere in 2025.
