On the defensive side of the ball, Eli Ricks and Lewis Cine are the most likely inactive players heading into the Super Bowl. Ricks and Cine were made inactive in the Eagles’ previous three playoff games.

After appearing in 16 games as a rookie in 2023, Ricks played in seven games this season. The second-year defensive back spent most of his time on special teams when he did play.

Philadelphia’s cornerback room is in great shape heading into the Super Bowl as Darius Slay, Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Isaiah Rodgers Sr., Avonte Maddox, and Kelee Ringo are healthy. Ringo and Maddox spend most of their playing time on special teams, along with Sydney Brown, leaving no room for Ricks.

As for Cine, he recently joined the Eagles last month after being signed off the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad. The former Georgia Bulldog defender joined the Bills after being waived by the Minnesota Vikings toward the end of the preseason.

The Vikings drafted Cine with the 32nd overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. However, he played in 10 games across two years with Minnesota. Cine missed most of his rookie season due to a season-ending compound fracture. Cine played seven games when he returned for his second season, predominantly on special teams.

After getting cut by Minnesota, Cine was supposed to sign with the Jets but ended up in Buffalo. The former All-SEC defensive back hasn’t seen any game action with the Eagles, but it wouldn’t be shocking if Philadelphia is holding out hope he can be a factor next season.

Cine is currently on the Eagles’ active/53-man roster, which means they have a plan for him. We’ll see if he can stick around in the offseason and make the team next season.
