These three new members of the Philadelphia Eagles can swing this Super Bowl rematch in Philadelphia's favor.

3. Vic Fangio, DC

This entry comes with a caveat: Vic Fangio was technically on the Eagles staff as a defensive consultant during the 2022 season. However, not many people were aware of this.

Furthermore, Fangio's defensive scheme was not being run in by the Eagles' defense in 2022, which is why Philadelphia's defense looks a lot different this season.

That said, Fangio deserves all the credit in the world for how he's turned the Eagles defense around. Last season, Philadelphia's defense was a complete mess, finishing 28th in passing yards allowed and 10th in rushing yards allowed.

This season, the Eagles defense ranked second in passing yards allowed ( 3,266) and tenth in rushing yards allowed (1,771). Fangio's ability to turn the Eagles' defense around has been impressive, given he has two rookies starting at cornerback and gave Zack Baun, who was only a special teamer with the New Orleans Saints, a chance at linebacker.

Baun has turned out to be quite the find, earning All-Pro and Pro-Bowl honors in 2024. His success, along with the rookie cornerbacks, is all thanks to Fangio's coaching.

Nevertheless, Fangio has never beaten Mahomes in his career, holding a 0-8 record against him. Despite that, this is by far the most talented defense Fangio has had to face Mahomes.

The Eagles' defense against Kansas City and a Mahomes-led offense will surely be a fun chess match to watch in the Super Bowl.
