The Philadelphia Eagles have no shortage of Pro Bowl-worthy players on what is one of the league's most talented rosters. Established veterans like Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, and Jalen Carter are clear considerations as league voting gets underway; however, they've already experienced that honor before. What is more interesting to consider is what young talent could earn the honor for the first time in their career.
With that in mind, here is a look at three Eagles who are more than ready to be Pro Bowlers this season.
3 Eagles Will Be 1st-Time Pro Bowlers This Season
1. Jordan Davis, DT
While the Philadelphia Eagles' defense has been far from perfect this season, there is no denying the consistent contributions of Davis. Whether it is batting down passes or blocking kicks, the Georgia alum is a proven winner who finds ways to contribute to the Philadelphia defense. While this is a unit coming off a particularly rough performance against the Chicago Bears, previously, Davis has been key in plugging up the run game and finding ways to help break the integrity of the pocket.
As of Week 14, Davis has already set career highs in total tackles (49), solo efforts (24), sacks (3.0), and broken-up passes. His 71.7 overall and 70.1 run defense grades on Pro Football Focus are also his best work since his rookie season.
So much of what Davis does simply doesn't show up in the stat sheet and should earn the defensive lineman his first Pro Bowl nod. He's more than deserving of the honor of being added to the roster, and continuing his strong play down the stretch will only help his case.
2. Quinyon Mitchell, CB
While most of the Eagles' secondary has been on a rollercoaster ride this season, Quinyon Mitchell has been a constant presence for the unit. His elite coverage simply cannot be ignored. Opponents aren't finding much success against him, as he's only allowed 31 catches on 71 targets (43.7%) for 328 yards and a 57.7 passer rating without a touchdown.
Despite seeming to be one of the NFL's best cornerbacks last season, Mitchell has clearly found a way to take his game to the next level. Having him anchoring the corner position has been a breath of fresh air for Philly fans frustrated with a franchise attempting to figure out the third corner. Just when it seemed Adoree' Jackson had turned his abysmal season around, injury struck, and the secondary is shorthanded again, putting more pressure on Mitchell.
Regardless, Mitchell continues to show up and play winning football, no matter the chaos or question marks around him, making it clear that the second-year CB is deserving of the honor and should have zero problem making his first Pro Bowl roster. Perhaps an All-Pro nod will follow.
3. DeVonta Smith, WR
While DeVonta Smith's fellow Eagles receiver A.J. Brown continues to create distractions, the Alabama alum keeps playing winning football. As much as Smith might want the football, playing a team-first approach has resulted in consistent production, while Brown's has remained in flux. Smith currently has 60 catches for 802 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games, while the 66.8 yards per outing that he's averaging ranks second-best in his career.
On pace for well over 1,100 receiving yards, there is zero question that Smith has a great shot to make his first Pro Bowl. He has the numbers and will likely be a focal point as quarterback Jalen Hurts attempts to get the offense back on track in Week 14, which could further bolster his outlook.
The Eagles need to win more often than not down the stretch, likely giving Smith multiple chances to step up and lead by example. Doing so might not only lead to a Pro Bowl honor, but it'd give Eagles fans a lot of faith in the passing game come the postseason.
