While the Eagles are on track for their fourth consecutive playoff appearance, these three Philadelphia players must step up in the second half of the NFL season.

3. Avonte Maddox, CB

Injuries have plagued Avonte Maddox throughout his NFL career. The veteran cornerback has yet to play a full season and was just limited to 13 appearances between the 2022 and 2023 campaigns. He was then released by the Eagles back in March only to be re-signed by the franchise less than a month later.

Needless to say, Philadelphia fans hoped that this season would be the one where Maddox finally stays healthy. That's been the case thus far, fortunately, appeared in each of the Eagles' first eight games while playing 48% of defensive snaps.

But while health has been on the 28-year-old's side, reliable production hasn't.

Maddox has only tallied six solo tackles and four broken-up snaps while playing to 50.7 defense and 49.9 coverage grades, respectively on PFF. His unreliability has caused him to fall out of favor among head coach Nick Sirianni's staff, leading to Maddox playing only playing an average of 5.3 defensive snaps in his last four games after he averaged 55.5 from Weeks 1 to 4.

Given that he's playing on an expiring contract, Maddox's fate is in his own hands. If he can't end the second half of the season on a strong note, it's hard to imagine him returning in an Eagles jersey next year.
