3 Eagles Playing Their Way Out of Philadelphia's 2025 Plans

With the NFL's midseason on the horizon, it's a good time to see which players are struggling and potentially playing themselves out of the Eagles' plans for 2025.

2. James Bradberry

With the Eagles' secondary getting younger and playing better, Bradberry might not be on the roster next season.

The veteran defensive back was on the chopping block this summer after a poor showing in the 2023 season, where he allowed 11 receiving touchdowns. Bradberry switched to safety in training camp to stick on the 53-man roster.

However, the 31-year-old defensive back suffered a leg injury in late August and was placed on injured reserve. Philadelphia hasn’t activated Bradberry off the injured reserve and one wonders when it will happen.

If he’s activated off the injured reserve in the next couple of weeks, Bradberry might get a shot to show he can be a solid depth piece in the secondary. But that’s more of a hypothetical at this point.

On the other hand, if Bradberry makes his return and doesn’t play well, the Eagles can get out of the contract. The veteran safety has an out in his contract heading into 2025. Philadelphia signed him to a three-year, $38 million contract in Mar. 2023 after he played well during the Eagles’ 2022 Super Bowl run.

The Eagles hoped Bradberry would stay at that level last season and now they are wondering what his role will be going forward.
