5 Eagles Most Likely to Be Inactive vs. Commanders in Week 4
The biggest contributions in Philly have been coming from unexpected places, and it’s clear that the depth of this roster has been instrumental in our 3-0 start.
That kind of depth can make roster decisions difficult every week, as it means leaving potential contributors watching the game in street clothes as inactives. But having to make those tough decisions is definitely a good problem to have.
With an NFC East rivalry matchup on tap against the Washington Commanders in Week 4, here are Philly’s five most likely inactives this weekend.
Eagles Predictions: Week 4 Inactives vs. Commanders
1. Devon Allen
Everything broke in the right direction for Devon Allen to suit up for his first NFL game in Week 3, but don’t expect a repeat performance.
Allen was dressing solely as a kick returner since Boston Scott was inactive with a concussion and Quez Watkins’ injury left an open roster slot at wide receiver. If the only absence was Watkins? We’d have probably dressed someone capable of playing some offensive snaps. If the only absence was Scott? We’d have probably just rolled with Britain Covey as the kick returner.
Covey is clearly ahead of Allen in the pecking order since he’s the full-time punt returner, and he also played a few offensive snaps while Allen played zero on Monday.
If even one of Scott or Watkins returns to the lineup in Week 4, then Allen’s chances of suiting up drop to nearly zero.
