4 Flyers Who Won’t Be in Philadelphia by the End of the Season
4. Travis Konecny
Hart isn’t the only Flyer who was involved in trade rumors over the summer.
Forward Travis Konecny is another name that popped up in the rumor mill. Flyers reporter Charlie O’Connor reported in July that even though Philadelphia isn’t trying to trade the 28-year-old, it could move him if the price is right.
At first, it’s hard to imagine Konecny in any jersey that isn’t orange and black. He’s played 488 games heading into his eighth year with the Flyers, scoring 141 goals while racking up 332 points over that stretch.
Still, Konecny only has two years remaining on his contract and there’s no telling if he wants to stick around for the full rebuild. He’s only gotten to play 22 postseason games over seven seasons and will likely have to wait a few more until he gets to taste playoff hockey again.
If Konecny makes it clear to Briere that he isn’t interested in rebuilding seasons, we don’t need to wait around until next year to trade him. The return that the Flyers can get this year for a deal involving the 30-goal, 60-point producer will be better than anything they can get in 2024.
Again, it would hurt to see Konecny moved, but it’s necessary if Philadelphia wants to stock the cupboards to be competitive down the line.
