5. Jordan Davis

Even fans who were predicting a second-year breakout for Jordan Davis probably weren’t expecting him to be this good this early in the season.

Already one of the most valuable players on this defense, Davis has made a massive impact in all three games already.

It started with proving he’s not a one-dimension, two-down player any more. Is he a run-stuffer first? Sure. But he can absolutely get after the quarterback too.

He had two pressures in each of his first two games this season, also recording a combined 1.5 sacks in those contests.

He didn’t get a ton of opportunities to get after Baker Mayfield in Week 3, but he made his impact felt anyway, dominating against the run. The Bucs seemed convinced they had to be able to run up the middle to win this game, and Davis showed them that simply wasn’t going to happen.

Davis allows us to stop the run without bringing safeties up into the box to help, and that’s gone a long way to helping our secondary withstand an early rash of injuries.
